Moments of Impact

I love seeing the stories of when children who have been abandoned by natural parents rejoice when the family that they are living with adopts them as their own.  I’ve seen more as of late that it is not only the parents who are asking the kids if they can adopt them and become a family but it is also the children asking to be adopted by the parents.  What an amazing act of love!  When I see this I wonder what transaction took place in order for this kind of love to be warranted.  The emotion that exudes these moments are extremely epic.  Can you imagine being adopted into a family who loves you unconditionally after you have been seeking this love everywhere else to no avail?  This speaks of our Heavenly Father.  He has created a way for us to all be called His children and to be adopted into the beloved.  To be adopted means to be legally made the son or daughter of someone other than a biological parent.  Our security as son’s and daughter’s is not based on what we can do for God or how hard we work for Him.  But our security is in our position as a child of God.  1 John 3:1 (ESV) tells us this: “See what kind of love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.  The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.”  I love thinking that every time someone asks to be adopted by Jesus, the great joy that He feels.  I imagine this feeling never gets old to Him.  You see, Jesus loves you with a love everlasting.  The kind of love that never ends and its His desire that you accept the request to be legally His.  He is waiting for you to allow that love to overtake your life.

Father, I am amazed at your great love for me.  You epitomize what it means to be a good good Father and I am glad to be adopted into your family.  I pray that our family continues to grow as more people accept your invitation.  In Jesus name, Amen!
